About

erin h. nelson

At some point in time, painting stopped being a hobby and became a habit.  Painting is a way for me to express the things I feel but can’t communicate, document the past, capture moments and people to remember.  Many of my paintings are auto-biographical, abstract, self-portraits.

Originally from beautiful Chicago, Oregon resident for 10 years, now soaking up sun in St. Pete, FL

I always listen to music when I paint, and find it to be a source of inspiration, motivation, and something to get lost in.  Let me know if you’d like to make me a playlist while I paint something for you.

Some of my favorite artists are Joan Mitchell, Gerhard Richter, Georgia O’Keefe, Rene Magritte, De Kooning, and Basquiat.

I would like to give thanks to the following people – my friends (for support and inspiration, great times, and buying my stuff), my art teachers (including the genuine Judy Bruce), and of course, my wife for allowing me to take up space in our life and make it messy.
